At Hearthstone Counselling we offer a practicum program that provides students with extensive training and experience in counselling, all while offering clients a reduced rate option.
Our practicum students are Master's level students who have completed extensive coursework and training in counselling theory and techniques. They bring a diverse range of skills and perspectives to their work with clients, and are supervised by experienced counsellors who hold a Master's degree or higher in counselling or a related field.
Practicum students offer a Free 20min consult and will meet with you to discuss your needs and provide you with more information about their services.
Beth is available to meet with clients online and in-person in Invermere.
Beth (she/her) is a Master of Counselling student currently completing her practicum at Hearthstone Counselling. She brings a warm, compassionate, and trauma-informed approach to her work, grounded in person-centered and strengths-based values. With a background in sociology and experience in early intervention, crisis support, and social work with Indigenous communities, Beth is dedicated to providing culturally responsive care. She is especially passionate about supporting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and creating a safe, inclusive space where all clients feel seen, heard, and empowered in their healing journey.
Beth holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and has experience in early intervention and prevention with families and children. She later transitioned into social work with Indigenous communities, where she supported individuals navigating complex systems, addressing mental health concerns and intergenerational healing. Beth has experience in crisis intervention, supporting individuals experiencing domestic violence, substance use, and trauma. She is passionate about providing culturally responsive, strengths-based care, ensuring clients feel valued, understood, and supported on their unique journey.
Beth takes a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to counselling. She supports clients in identifying their strengths and building resilience as they navigate their healing journey. While Beth is passionate about supporting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, she is committed to making her practice inclusive and culturally responsive to all populations.
As part of her practicum, Beth is actively expanding her therapeutic toolkit and exploring new interventions to meet each client's unique needs. She is eager to integrate various therapeutic approaches to serve diverse populations and concerns. Beth is committed to creating a welcoming and empowering environment where clients can heal, grow, and confidently navigate life’s challenges.

Kristi (she/her) is a Master of Counselling student with Yorkville University.
As an adoptive mama, she knows how disconnecting and hard life can be at times. Her passion is to help people feel connected and find a spark of hope again, drawing on principles from attachment theory, humanistic psychology, and trauma-informed practices to guide her. She firmly believes that we all have what is necessary to thrive in life, we just sometimes need support and someone to remind us of who we are.
Kristi holds a Bachelor of Religious Education, with experience in both church and the non-profit sector. After serving as a director of youth services at an afterschool drop-in center, Kristi transitioned to adoptive motherhood. From this experience she gained a wealth of knowledge in attachment and trauma-informed practices. Kristi is passionate about helping people understand and overcome the impacts of traumatic experiences. She desires to create a safe, empowering space to support healing and growth.
Kristi takes a person-centered approach, believing that each person is the expert on their own lives. She desires to help clients regulate, form deeper attachments, and disrupt negative patterns of thinking/relating. Kristi prefers an integrative approach, combining various techniques from different approaches to best fit the client. She utilizes both bottom-up approaches, like mindfulness and somatic body awareness, to help clients get in tune with what their bodies might be telling them, and top-down approaches like emotional processing and thought journalling, to help clients get in tune with their patterns of thinking/feeling. Kristi is dedicated to creating an affirming, culturally sensitive, and inclusive space for all people.
Lindsey is available to meet with clients online and in-person in Invermere.
Lindsey (she/her) is a Master of Counselling student with City University who is thrilled to take the next step in her professional journey as a practicum student at Hearthstone Counselling. With a warm, affirming, and person-centred approach, Lindsey makes clients feel safe, comfortable and heard.
Lindsey holds a Bachelor of Arts in history and a Special Education Assistant certificate, with experience in both educational settings and the non-profit sector.
After transitioning from the school system to crisis intervention, Lindsey spent several years volunteering with the Distress Centre in Calgary as a crisis line volunteer. She also brings a wealth of person-centred and trauma-informed practices from her work as a supportive counsellor with survivors of domestic and sexual violence as well as individuals experiencing homelessness.
Lindsey is passionate about fostering resilience and healing in vulnerable populations, and she is dedicated to creating a safe and empowering environment for clients.
Lindsey offers a warm, affirming, and person-centred approach to create a safe, inclusive space where clients feel genuinely supported. Taking a relational perspective, she explores how family of origin and attachment dynamics influence clients’ current lives and relationships. She also integrates mindfulness skills to enhance everyday coping, fostering resilience as we work together to heal past wounds and encourage growth. Lastly, her approach emphasizes recognizing and building on clients' unique strengths.
She brings a trauma-informed approach rooted in my crisis work background, supporting clients in healing with safety and understanding. Passionate about the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and diverse populations, she strives to create an inclusive space where clients feel valued, heard, and empowered.
