I provide counselling to youth, adults, families, and couples at Hearthstone Counselling. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Canadian Certified Counsellor. I have a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, and additional training and certifications in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Gottman Bringing Baby Home Training.
I am passionate in working with individuals, couples, and families from a relational perspective, noting that connection is a human innate need that can be disrupted through unexpected challenges and curveballs in our lives. I believe that fostering connections based on the fundamentals of safety, security, and trust is essential in our well-being. In my therapeutic approach, I primarily weave together Attachment Theory, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy in creating a compassionate space for healing and growth as we uncover the narratives present in your life.
With a deep understanding of how early relationships shape our emotional worlds, I utilize Attachment Theory as a cornerstone to uncover patterns and dynamics influencing your current experiences.
Emotion-Focused Therapy provides guidance as we explore the core of your emotions, offering a safe space to express, understand, and process feelings, leading to an increase in insight, for. Complementing these modalities, Person-Centered Therapy honors your innate capacity for self-awareness and strengths, empowering you to navigate your journey of self-discovery with authenticity and resilience to create space to live your life in a way that reflects your needs, desires, and values.
In addition to my integrative approach, I also specialize in cognitive-based therapies, recognizing the pivotal role our thoughts play in shaping our emotions and behaviors. With cognitive-based techniques, we can identify and challenge negative thought patterns, replacing them with more adaptive and empowering beliefs. By harnessing the power of cognition, we can increase emotional regulation, enhance problem-solving skills, and further find balance, clarity, and self-compassion. As a therapist, I am committed to tailoring these evidence-based approaches to suit your unique needs, honouring the individual goals, desires, and values that you want to work toward.
With over 11 years of experience in mental health, I've held diverse roles through various communities as an individual mental health counsellor, family counsellor, child and youth counsellor, child developmental specialist, and program supervisor for vulnerable individuals.
Outside of my professional endeavors, I am a mother to three young children. My journey as a parent has provided me with a deep-rooted understanding of the many joys and complexities that arise through the ever-changing dynamics of family life.
My professional path has been enriched by learning from and unlearning biases and assumptions through my work with diverse populations. I strive to provide inclusive and culturally sensitive care to all individuals and families I serve. Whether navigating transitions, coping with stressors, processing grief and loss, or healing from traumas, I am committed to providing compassionate support and empowering clients to navigate life's challenges with safety, resilience, and strength.
