Thank you for thinking of Alana Cotterall, Registered Psychologist, for your client or patient. A short referral means your client doesn’t have to retell their story, and it lets us check together whether an assessment is the right next step. Reviewing a referral never costs you anything.

Assessments aren’t covered by MSP. Many extended health plans cover services by a Registered Psychologist. A single consultation ($225) is available for clients who want guidance without a full assessment.

For clinician referrals

  1. Talk with your client and present the referral as a possible next step, not a booked assessment.
  2. Share the fee range so they can decide whether it works for them before you refer.
  3. Request the secure referral form → using the short form below. You’ll receive it by reply.
  4. Complete it with your client’s signed consent. Attach any screening results and previous assessments directly, not through the client.
  5. Alana reviews the form and replies with one of three outcomes: she can see your client, she suggests a different service, or she needs more information.
  6. Your client contacts Alana to confirm the recommended service and estimated fee before booking.

A note on screeners: screening tools point to areas worth exploring; they don’t diagnose. Some platforms print an automatic “probable” label, so it helps if clients hear that it isn’t a diagnosis.

Risk: the referral process isn’t an urgent pathway. Please continue to manage any current risk within your care, and note your most recent risk assessment on the form.

Referring as a physician

A referral letter is all that’s needed, and there’s no cost to you. Use the short form below, and Alana’s office will reply with a secure way to send it. Please include:

  • The referral question: what you’d like the assessment to answer
  • Relevant medical history and current medications, including anything that can affect attention, mood or memory (thyroid, sleep, head injury, substance use)
  • Any previous psychological or psychoeducational assessments
  • Any current safety concerns
  • Any deadline, such as school or workplace accommodations

Please let your patient know about the referral and the fee range first. Alana’s office will then contact them to confirm the plan.

Medication: Alana doesn’t prescribe. Where medication may be relevant, such as for ADHD, findings are written to support your treatment decisions or a psychiatric referral.

What you’ll receive: With your client’s or patient’s written consent, you’ll receive a summary letter or report covering the findings, any diagnosis and recommendations. If Alana isn’t the right fit for the question, she’ll let you know and suggest an alternative.
