Clinical Hypnosis in Invermere and online

Clinical hypnosis uses a calm, focused state of attention as part of counselling. It isn’t stage hypnosis: you stay aware and in control the whole time. It’s offered here by Alana Cotterall, Registered Psychologist, and Bridget McDermott, RCC.

Who DBR may help with

DBR can be used on its own or alongside EMDR and talk therapy.

What a session is like

Your counsellor first talks with you about what you’d like to work on and answers any questions. Then they guide you into a relaxed, focused state, a bit like being absorbed in a good book. Some counsellors use calming imagery, like slowly walking down a staircase, to help you settle more deeply. From there, the work might include ego strengthening, which uses imagery and suggestion to help you feel calmer, steadier and more capable. You stay aware the whole time, and you can open your eyes, speak or stop whenever you like.
