Psychological assessments in Invermere

Maybe you’ve been struggling for a while and no explanation has quite fit, or treatment hasn’t helped the way you hoped. A psychological assessment looks carefully at what’s going on, considers more than one explanation, and gives you recommendations for what may help next.

What it can help you understand

  • Mood or anxiety concerns
  • Trauma-related symptoms
  • Obsessive thoughts or compulsive behaviours
  • Personality patterns and how they affect daily life or relationships
  • Difficulties with concentration or memory
  • Why previous treatment may not have helped as expected

The assessment considers possible explanations rather than starting from an assumed diagnosis.

How it works

  1. Inquiry form: your main concerns, what you hope to learn, and how you plan to use the findings.
  2. Your plan and fee: confirmed in writing before booking. Alana may suggest a brief call first if something needs clarifying.
  3. Clinical interview: about 1.5–2 hours, sometimes over more than one appointment.
  4. Questionnaires and testing: about 1–3 hours, chosen for your questions. Some can be done at home.
  5. Written findings: usually about 2–4 weeks after everything is received, as a report or summary letter.
  6. Feedback: about an hour to go through the findings, any diagnosis and recommendations.

Why a full assessment?

Fees and practical details

  • Estimated fee: $225 per hour, with most assessments estimated at $900–$2,000.
  • Not ready for a full assessment? A single consultation session ($225) offers guidance on your concerns or on screening results, without a diagnosis or formal report.
  • Legal or insurance purposes: assessments are for clinical purposes. Requests for court, ICBC, WorkSafeBC, insurance or workplace claims need separate consideration, so mention the purpose in your inquiry.

Ask in your inquiry form with your child’s age and grade, and Alana will confirm whether the assessment is a good fit.

Keep it simple: they’ll do puzzles, questions and some reading, writing and math with breaks, and there’s no studying or passing. A good night’s sleep and breakfast help.

Not always. Alana can diagnose when the findings support it. Either way, the report explains your child’s learning profile and what may help.

Often, yes, depending on guardianship. Alana will confirm what’s needed before booking.

A school can suggest an assessment, but a parent or guardian makes the inquiry and gives consent.
