Psychoeducational assessments in Invermere
A psychoeducational assessment helps you understand how your child thinks and learns, where they’re struggling, and what may help them do well. You’ll get a written report with practical recommendations for home and school.
What it can help you understand
- Learning strengths and difficulties in reading, writing or math
- Thinking, reasoning, memory and processing
- Attention, organization and executive functioning
- Emotional or behavioural factors that affect learning
- Questions about giftedness or intellectual functioning
Where it fits, the assessment may identify a Specific Learning Disorder, ADHD or an Intellectual Disability. The report can support school planning, an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or accommodation requests. Schools make their own decisions about designations and supports.

How it works
- Inquiry form: your child’s age and grade, your main concerns and any deadlines.
- Your plan and fee: confirmed in writing before booking.
- Parent intake meeting: about 1–1.5 hours, without your child, in person or online.
- Questionnaires: for parents, and with your permission, your child’s teacher.
- Testing with your child: usually 2–3 appointments of about three hours, often in the morning, with breaks.
- Report: about 3–4 weeks after testing and questionnaires are complete.
- Parent feedback meeting: about 1–1.5 hours, in plain language. Age-appropriate feedback for your child can be arranged too.
- School meeting (optional): with your permission; any extra fee is confirmed first.
Why a full assessment?
School screening points to a concern. An assessment explains it.
Report cards, teacher observations and school screenings can show that something is getting in the way of learning, but they can’t say why. A full assessment looks at how your child thinks, learns and pays attention, considers their development and history, and separates out things that can look alike, like a learning difficulty, attention, anxiety or a gap in instruction.
What the fee covers.
Testing takes several hours with your child, and much more work happens afterwards: scoring and interpreting the tests, reviewing questionnaires and school records, bringing it all together, and writing a detailed report with recommendations you can use at home and share with the school. The fee reflects that time, and your estimate is confirmed in writing before booking.
